Albert Bichot Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru
£335.00 (inc VAT)
Purest hedonism. Drink, and cavort like the Greeks of old. You know the ones I mean.
Named for the house at the centre of the winery and dedicated to all its inhabitants, past, present and future. The grapes for this actually come from two vineyards that are quite some way apart one in the south of the Ribeiro and one in the north. Javier Monsalve loves mixing varieties, he's not going to let something minor like miles of distance get in the way.
Eloi Lorenzo Pereira (1887-1976), was a complex, generous and noble man; a rural doctor who dedicated his life to others with his healthcare and social work. He did his rounds on horseback through the mountains of Spain. His great-grandson, Javier Monsalve, left behind a stable job in Madrid to realize his dream of continuing the family winery. He's committed to rejuvenating local and sometimes forgotten varieties.
